Recently, the final of the 12th China Youth Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition (Special Session on Sci-Tech Innovation), jointly hosted by the Central Committee of the Communist Youth League, the Ministry of Commerce, the National Health Commission, the State Taxation Administration and the Hubei Provincial People’s Government, was held in Wuhan. Wang Yi, Secretary of the Secretariat of the Central Committee of the Communist Youth League, and Zhuge Yujie, Deputy Secretary of the Hubei Provincial Party Committee, attended and delivered speeches.
3Srobotics CTO Dr. Yang Zhanye, with the project “Embodied Multimodal Large-Model Intelligent Robot in Vertical Welding Scenarios”, stood out from over 9,600 participating teams nationwide and won the silver award in the growth group.
Dr. Yang Zhanye received his bachelor’s degree from Harbin Institute of Technology and his master’s and doctorate from the University of Bath in the UK, specializing in robot motion control, machine learning algorithms, simulation technology and other cutting-edge artificial intelligence R&D, and currently serves as 3Srobotics Chief Technology Officer. This time, he represented the 3Srobotics innovation team at the national final, sharing with expert judges the breakthrough application of embodied intelligence in vertical welding scenarios.
Themed “Youth Taking Responsibility for Chinese Modernization”, this competition focused on hard technology and highlighted industrialization. After multiple rounds of selection through preliminary, semi-final and final rounds, among the 9,600+ projects, ultimately only 119 projects won gold, silver and bronze awards. With the innovative project “Embodied Multimodal Large-Model Intelligent Robot in Vertical Welding Scenarios” — which deeply integrates multimodal perception with an embodied large model to precisely understand complex welding tasks and autonomously complete closed-loop operation from perception, decision-making to execution, achieving precise, compliant and adaptive welding of complex weld seams, demonstrating outstanding technical advancement and scenario application value — 3Srobotics won unanimous recognition from the review experts and successfully stood on the national award podium.
Relevant data shows that by 2025, China’s welder shortage is expected to reach 5 million, expanding to 10 million by 2035. Moreover, the penetration rate of intelligent equipment for non-standard part welding is below 20%, and traditional welding faces prominent problems such as labor shortages, low efficiency and harsh environments. To solve this social problem, 3Srobotics deeply cultivates the core embodied AI technology of vertical welding scenarios, builds a full-chain independent R&D system of “AI algorithms + welding processes + robot bodies”, is committed to promoting the deep integration and deployment of embodied AI technology in industrial scenarios, and through building an “embodied intelligent industrial brain”, realizes the paradigm upgrade from “traditional automation” to “adaptive intelligence”, ultimately constructing autonomous industrial productivity integrating perception, decision-making and execution. Its products have now achieved large-scale deployment in multiple fields such as steel structures, shipbuilding, nuclear power, construction machinery and heavy industry, with in-depth cooperation with China Railway Group, Baosteel Steel Structure, State Grid, Wuhu Tianhang Heavy Industry and many other well-known enterprises.
The silver award is not the destination, but a new starting point.
